Google Drive is not only a desktop application but it’s also available for iPhone and Android devices. Dropbox is an online file storage facility which allows you to store your documents, images, folders and any other digital format on the web, ready for you to access from almost anywhere in the world. Register and download the Dropbox software which will place a Dropbox folder on your computer. Place a document in this folder and it will automatically update your online archive. If you’re away from your computers and need to access your Dropbox archive remotely, simply login via the web interface from any computer. You can also upload items directly to Dropbox using this interface.. The greatest aspect of this utility is the way it allows you to control and set sharing between different users. For collaboration purposes this mean some folders can be kept private whilst others can allow access to multiple users. Dropbox is free for PC and Apple, available as a software or iPad/iPhone app. You can share up to 2 GB of information for free, with access to more storage space if you can get friends and family to sign up.

SkyDrive is Microsoft’s answer to Dropbox and Google Drive. It offers 7Gb of free online storage as opposed to the 5GB offered by it’s two biggest competitors.
